Will Sasa Kalajdzic miss the European Championship finals in the summer due to a knee injury? In the eighth minute of the game in Freiburg (3:3), the Frankfurt striker went down after a change of direction without any external influence and held his right knee with his face distorted in pain.
The teammates reacted in shock. After a break in treatment, Kalajdzic limped off the field himself, later he returned from the catacombs to the substitutes’ bench with a knee brace and on crutches.
Two cruciate ligament tears in his left knee
Further investigations will show how long Kalajdzic will be out. The cruciate ligament has already torn twice – albeit in his left knee: in 2019, when he was under contract in Stuttgart, and in 2022 when he made his Premier League debut for Wolverhampton. Having just returned from this, he was supposed to gain match practice in Frankfurt on loan. Now there is a risk of another setback. “We hope it’s nothing negative, but I can’t promise that either,” said Eintracht coach Dino Toppmöller.
