Robert Zulj will only be missing from LASK on Sunday against Altach: The Criminal Senate handed the Athletes’ captain a one-game ban after his exclusion last Saturday against Wolfsberg.
In the 27th minute he hit Wolfsberg defender Dominik Baumgartner in the lower leg with his leg outstretched. “He told me that he didn’t see the opponent at all,” said Sageder after the final whistle. “He wanted to play the ball, took the step – and then the opponent’s leg was there.” Zulj also defended the fouled man: “It’s very unfortunate, I know that Robert would never do that on purpose,” said Baumgartner on Sky. “He wants to put his body in the way and then makes me unhappy. I’m sorry for him, even though it was of course good for us.” Afterwards, the LASK, outnumbered, ran in vain after the 0-1 deficit.
Looking for a stand-in
Who will be the goalscorer in Altach on Sunday? The record in games without Zulj since he returned to LASK in the summer of 2022 has been catastrophic: in the eight Bundesliga games there was only one goal from a penalty, which was enough for a 1-0 win against Lustenau. In the current season, without the veteran, there were three clean sheets: against Blau-Weiß Linz (0:2), Austria Vienna (0:0) and Hartberg (0:0), even in the Cup in Kapfenberg (6:5 after penalties ) failed to score against the second division team in 120 minutes without the rested captain.
