The test consisted of speed tracking and the response was unexpected. The device closely followed Verstappen and recorded at 350km/h the pilot’s route, after doing it with a 2012 vehicle.
Max Verstappen’s surprise
“Is that the fastest camera drone in the world? Do you think that can keep up with me on a lap in a Formula 1 car?“, he consulted in a mischievous way Max Verstappen to David Couthard and Liam Lawson during one of the days held in Silverstone.
“I think it may be one of the best shots in the history of F.1″added the Dutchman, while receiving the intense gaze of several members of the team. Milton Keynes already waiting for the return that innovated with high definition images.
The initial examination was in the aforementioned vehiclethe Red Bull RB 8 (2012) with the former champion David Coulthardal at the wheel
“These cars, the truth is, are not made for this type of competition. This is the real challenge: filming a fluid, well-framed shot of an entire lap around Silverstone in an RB20 with Max Verstappen”Coulthard remarked.
For its part, Max Verstappen spoke again and slid: I never thought I would see a drone going so fast just to record camera footage. I was really surprised at how fast I could keep up and also how close I could go in the corners, how it turns. It gives a slightly different perspective to see F1.”
The recently shown project is carried out by Dutch Drone Gods and was started in 2023. As we mentioned before, the initial test was with a Red Bull RB 8 (2012) with David Coulthard at the wheel. Subsequently, this experience was proposed to drone experts to develop a prototype that could reach the speed of an F1 car, Infobae states.
Regarding its features, the drone has the ability to record and Fly stably up to 350 km/h with a three-minute battery lifeso on average you would be able to complete two laps of an F1 circuit.
