Tennis: Koepfer in the quarterfinals at the ATP tournament in Acapulco

After the early exit of top favorite Alexander Zverev, another German tennis professional is among the last eight players in Acapulco.

The German tennis professional Dominik Koepfer has reached the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament in Acapulco. The world number 58. defeated number eight seeded American Frances Tiafoe 6:4, 5:7, 6:1.

The 29-year-old left-hander’s victory was certain after 2:25 hours of play. Koepfer’s next opponent is the Dane Holger Rune, who is number two.

For Daniel Altmaier, however, the end came after the surprising opening victory in the German duel with Alexander Zverev. Altmaier lost in the round of 16 4:6, 4:6 against the Serb Miomir Kecmanovic. The hard court tournament in the Mexican seaside resort is worth a total of $2.2 million.
