“Anti-sex beds” in the Olympic village? Irish gymnast Rhys McClenaghan puts the test to the test. How stable are the sustainable cardboard beds?
The result: Amazingly stable.
In a video published on Twitter, McClenaghan refutes the thesis of the US tabloid “New York Post”. According to the newspaper, the Olympic beds in Tokyo were made of cardboard and would break with any “sudden movement”. This should prevent “intimacies” between the athletes. This serves to enforce the distance rules applicable to athletes. The official Twitter channel of the Olympic Games picked up the video of the Turners and thanked the Irishman for the reply.
The rumor was based on a tweet from US runner Paul Chelimo.
According to the ironic post, the cardboard beds were designed to only support the weight of one person “to prevent situations outside of sport”.
A humorous interpretation that has now been refuted thanks to Rhys McClenaghan.
