The Steinbach Black Wings start the playoff quarter-finals in Salzburg on Sunday evening. This is what the playoff pick revealed on Thursday evening.
Klagenfurt opened the playoff pick and chose the Pioneers Vorarlberg. Immediately afterwards, Szekesfehervar decided on HC Pustertal. And Red Bull Salzburg ultimately chose the Black Wings. This left Villacher SV for HCB Südtirol.

The decision came as a bit of a surprise. “We are well prepared, said Salzburg coach Oliver David. The decision was made with the involvement of the staff and the captains.
People in Bolzano were also surprised. “We started from the classic, so from Bozen – Linz,” said the surprised Bozen manager Markus Meraner after the pick.
