“I said to the owners here that I’m not interested in just being in the league. For me it’s about being successful – that’s what drives me,” the Upper Austrian told the TV channel Sky.

If the club wanted that too, then it could be very exciting, “and if not, then I’m the wrong man.”

Glasner, who won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 and has been without a club since the split in the summer of 2023, signed a contract in south London until the summer of 2026 in mid-February.

He is the successor to Roy Hodgson (76), who also resigned from his position due to health problems. In the first game under Glasner’s management, Crystal Palace celebrated a 3-0 win against newly promoted Burnley last weekend.

This Saturday his team has to play against fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Tottenham is a team that, alongside Liverpool, plays the highest pressing game in the league and defends incredibly aggressively. “We want to act courageously and have the confidence to use these spaces again and again in order to score goals and win the game,” said Glasner, looking ahead to the game.
