The footballers of SV Guntamatic Ried celebrated their third 5-0 win of the current season in the second league on Friday. Opponent Stripfing had no chance and the game was essentially decided early on thanks to two early goals from Wilfried Eza (9th minute) and Fabian Wohlmuth (14th).
With Arjan Malic (18), who made it 3-0 with a remarkable shot, Jonas Mayer (19) and Fabian Rossdorfer (18), three young talents from their own academy were in the starting line-up. In the 29th minute, defender Lumor had to be substituted due to an injury. Benjamin Sammer, another 18-year-old, celebrated his debut with the Rieders. Sammer was only in the squad for the second time. Sammer played a strong game against the experienced stripping striker and ex-Rieder Darijo Pecirep.

Praise for academy work
“Today I especially have to say a lot of praise and compliments to the work in the academy. There were four young academy players on the pitch. Another compliment goes to the leading players Ante Bajic, Andreas Leitner and Oliver Steurer. The way the veterans led the young players on the pitch was great”said SV Ried coach Maximilian Senft after the game. Captain and goalkeeper Andreas Leitner also praised the debutant: “Benjamin Sammer did a great job right from the start. We are very happy for him. But it wasn’t a surprise to us, after all, we can see what he can do in training.”
Endurance test in Leoben
Next Friday SV Ried will be visiting Leoben. The newcomer is third in the table with a one point lead over Ried and is the team of the hour. Leoben is in the semi-finals of the ÖFB Cup. “Leoben is doing incredible at the moment. We have to fight back – if we play our game, I’m convinced we can get three points there”said Leitner.
