In a game without a winner, Gladbach’s Robin Hack is still somehow a winner. The 25-year-old is praised by the coach – and is recommended for a very important game on Tuesday.
After the initial anger over the missed win, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s derby double goalscorer Robin Hack highlighted the positive in the 3-3 draw against 1. FC Köln. “We bit, we fought. You could see that all the players wanted to. And that’s always the most important thing,” said the 25-year-old.
In the 70th minute, Hack came on when the score was 1:2. In the 71st and 73rd minutes he turned the game around and gave Borussia the interim lead. “I don’t think I’ve ever had a goal as emotional as the 3-2,” said the offensive man, who cheered euphorically in front of the Gladbach fan curve.
Coach Gerardo Seoane praised the development of Hack, who moved from Arminia Bielefeld to Mönchengladbach in the summer. “Overall, Robin has made great development since he’s been with us,” he said. “We know what we have in him.”
With his strong Joker appearance, Hack was recommended for a starting eleven on Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup against 1. FC Saarbrücken (8.30 p.m./ZDF and Sky). The derby experience should help in Saarland. “The will was there, we wanted to win the game, we didn’t give anything away: that’s what counts and we can take that with us to Saarbrücken,” said Hack.
