Swimmers of the Russian national team on Thursday, December 16, won gold in the 4×100 m freestyle relay at the World Short Course Championships in Abu Dhabi.
The Russian four swam the relay with a total time of 3 minutes 3.45 seconds. Kliment Kolesnikov, Andrey Minakov, Vladislav Grinev and Alexander Shchegolev took the start.
The second place was taken by the Italian team, 0.16 seconds behind the Russians, the USA team was the third (+1.97).
On December 8, Russian swimmer Yevgeny Rylov became the athlete of the year, as well as a laureate of the National Sports Prize in the Pride of Russia nomination. Rylov in 2021 won two gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics (100 m and 200 m backstroke), and also became a silver medalist in the 4×200 m freestyle relay.
