Today national coach Nagelsmann announces his squad for the next international football matches. Returnee Kroos will be on the list. Christoph Daum sees dangers in this.
Former master coach Christoph Daum is critical of the return of Rio world champion Toni Kroos (34) to the German national soccer team.
“I wouldn’t have made this decision like that. (…) Toni Kroos won’t come here to fight for a place, but he’s basically guaranteed a regular place in the game. And that’s always a little bit, almost dangerous for the cohesion in the team the team,” Daum told the TV station RTL/ntv.
Nevertheless, the quality of the Real Madrid midfielder is undisputed, said the 70-year-old. “What he has won and how he performs as a person is outstanding. Who dares to say that I don’t want Kroos to be part of a national team? Yes, I still wouldn’t invite him.”
Kroos resigned from the DFB team after the 2021 European Championship and 106 international matches. In February, the 2014 world champion announced his return to the DFB team. He will play for national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team at the international matches in France and against the Netherlands in March.
