EM 2024: Adidas and DFB show the German jerseys

Adidas, as the DFB team’s supplier, has unveiled the new jerseys for the 2024 European Football Championship. The color of the away kit may surprise some.

The German national soccer team will appear at the home European Championships this summer with a traditional white and an unusual pink jersey. On Thursday, DFB supplier Adidas unveiled the game outfits with which Ilkay Gündogan and Co. will play their games from June 14th under the motto “Typically German”. The new jerseys are to be worn in the first international matches of the European Championship year on March 23rd in France and three days later against the Netherlands.

The home jersey is classic and simple in white. Only the two black stripes on the sides and black, red and gold stripes in the shoulder area stand out visually. The shorts and socks are also white.

The official away jersey is much more eye-catching in pink-purple tones and a diamond-shaped pattern that is intended to resemble the look of an eagle’s wing. The shorts and socks are completely purple, while the two colors flow together in the jersey. “I think the away jersey is very cool! Something different and really extraordinary,” said national player Florian Wirtz: “We’re looking forward to the home European Championships, where we want to perform in both jerseys.”

“While the typically white home jersey takes up the German football DNA in a modern way, the away jersey with its pink-purple colors ensures an unexpectedly fresh appearance,” Adidas wrote in a press release. The jersey launch will be accompanied by an advertising campaign “that plays humorously with German clichés and stereotypes,” the company said.
