The Russian national football team starts in the League of Nations on June 2, 2022 with a match with Albania. This was reported on December 17 on the Russian team’s Telegram channel.

On June 6, the national team will play with the Israeli team, on June 10 – with Iceland.

Earlier, on Friday, it became known that the Russian national football team will meet with the teams of Albania, Israel and Iceland in the same group of the League of Nations for the season 2022/23. The draw for the tournament took place in Nyon, Switzerland. The Russian team will compete in Group 2 of League B, according to the Sport-Express newspaper.

The national teams will play in the group stage against their rivals at home and away in June and September 2022. Due to the holding of the 2022 World Cup in winter, four of the six Nations League rounds will be played in June. Group winners in League B will move up to League A.

Earlier, on December 15, the president of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov expressed the opinion that the performance of the Russian national football team in the group stage of the qualifying tournament for the 2022 World Cup is satisfactory. The final assessment of the results of the national team can be given at the end of the World Cup, he said.

The League of Nations is an international football tournament for European national teams, which is hosted by UEFA.
