Russian boxer Maxim Babanin in a duel with Olivier Daud Mekongo managed to “break down” his opponent. This opinion was expressed on December 18 by the Honored Master of Sports of Russia, professional boxer Evgeny Tishchenko.
“Max broke the Cameroonian on the spot and proved that the Russian boxing school is the strongest in the world. Mekongo put up a decent resistance, but Max broke him. The fight turned out to be spectacular and beautiful. Max Babanin showed himself worthily, especially in the battle against the Cameroonian champion, ”he stressed in an interview with REN TV.
The fight, in which Babanin defeated the Mekongo, took place a day earlier as part of the Storm on the Volga tournament. In the first round, the Cameroonian mostly defended. Babanin felt confident in the ring. In the second round, after a powerful blow from the Russian, the referee decided to stop the fight.
Also in this tournament Timur Slashchinin from Samara defeated the Cameroonian Tyson Dijon. Nevertheless, the behavior of the latter in the ring was distinguished by the greatest maneuverability and caution.
Denis Vildanov, known as Big Daddy, suffered a leg injury during a fall, which is why the fight was stopped and the victory was awarded to Maxim Shcherbakov (Max Ax). At the very beginning of the first round, Ax carried out a powerful series of punches, as a result he confidently knocked out Vildanov and emerged victorious from the battle.
Bolshoi later said that doctors diagnosed him with a broken leg. He stressed that he fell not from the blow, but from the fact that he put his foot incorrectly and stumbled.
In addition, Russian boxer Edgar Ghukasyan and Argentinean Ricardo Viyalba fought in the ring. The Russian won the victory, regaining the belt of the WBA Asia South champion.
