In the round of 16 of the Masters in Miami, Dominik Koepfer initially holds up well against big favorite Daniil Medvedev. But then the break-in follows.
Tennis professional Dominik Koepfer missed a surprise against defending champion Daniil Medvedev at the Masters tournament in Miami.
After a strong first set, the 29-year-old ultimately lost in the round of 16 after 90 minutes with 6:7 (5:7), 0:6. Koepfer had previously defeated the seeded players Sebastián Báez from Argentina and Ugo Humbert from France at the hard court tournament.
The Black Forest native was in the round of 16 of a Masters 1000 tournament for the first time since November 2021. Koepfer played particularly well in the first round with his own serve. In the tie-break he was 4-0 ahead, but lost five points in a row and the set a little later. The second round lasted less than half an hour before Medvedev, fourth in the world rankings, was able to celebrate.
