Fifth win of the season for Goggia – Tippler Super-G seventh

The Austrians drove past the podium this time, Tamara Tippler was the best seventh (+0.92), Cornelia Hütter followed in eighth (+1.00).

After finishing fifth (+0.75), Mikaela Shiffrin was unable to regain the overall World Cup lead from Goggia and is 65 points behind in the giant slalom runs on Tuesday and Wednesday in Courchevel. The defending champion Petra Vlhova from Slovakia will be there again. For Goggia it was the 16th World Cup victory.

For Tippler it was the next good result in this discipline after fourth place in Lake Louise, but there is still work to be done. “The fall (in the descent / note) was suboptimal, but that’s part of it, I’ll learn from it. I always want to drive fast and I like to take this result with me,” said the Styrian, who had to deal with two failures in a row. Hütter had taken various injuries with him from the fall in St. Moritz, so he was “just happy” to have been at the start at all. “I made mistakes, I wasn’t quite up to speed, but that still makes me feel positive.”

Ramona Siebenhofer was after 40 runners in twelfth place (+1.47), Ariane Rädler on 13 (+1.48), Elisabeth Reisiniger on 14 (+1.49) and Christine Scheyer on 20 (+1.63). Downhill third Mirjam Puchner was only 21st (+1.66) and noted that she was not that easy with the assessment in the Super-G. “It’s a bit annoying. I have to find the natural thing again, build something up and then accelerate again,” she announced.
