Russia’s Kliment Kolesnikov won the gold medal at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in the 50m backstroke event on Sunday, December 19. Competitions are held in Abu Dhabi.
Kolesnikov covered the distance in 22.66 seconds. The second result was shown by German Christian Diener and Italian Lorenzo Mora – 22.90 seconds.
Another representative of Russia – Pavel Samusenko became the fourth.
Earlier that day, Kolesnikov won gold in the 100m composite swimming at the World Championships. An athlete from Russia covered the distance in 51.09 seconds. The second place was taken by the Norwegian Tomoe Hvas (51.35 seconds), the third – by the Italian Thomas Cekkon (51.40).
Earlier, on December 16, Russian swimmers won gold in the 4×100 m freestyle relay at the World Short Course Championships in Abu Dhabi.
The Russian four swam the relay with a total time of 3 minutes 3.45 seconds. Kliment Kolesnikov, Andrey Minakov, Vladislav Grinev and Alexander Shchegolev took the start.
The second place was taken by the Italian team, 0.16 seconds behind the Russians, the USA team was the third (+1.97).
