Swimmer Kolesnikov won the 100m at the World Cup in Abu Dhabi

Russian Kliment Kolesnikov won gold in the 100m medley at the World Short Course Championships in Abu Dhabi on December 19.

An athlete from Russia covered the distance for 51.09 seconds.

The second place was taken by the Norwegian Tomoe Hvas (51.35 seconds), the third – by the Italian Thomas Cekkon (51.40).

Earlier, on December 16, Russian swimmers won gold in the 4×100 m freestyle relay at the World Short Course Championships in Abu Dhabi.

The Russian four swam the relay with a total time of 3 minutes 3.45 seconds. Kliment Kolesnikov, Andrey Minakov, Vladislav Grinev and Alexander Shchegolev took the start.

The second place was taken by the Italian team, 0.16 seconds behind the Russians, the USA team was the third (+1.97).

On December 8, Russian swimmer Yevgeny Rylov became the athlete of the year, as well as a laureate of the national sports award in the Pride of Russia nomination. Rylov in 2021 won two gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics (100 m and 200 m backstroke), and also became a silver medalist in the 4×200 m freestyle relay. In addition, he won two gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the European Championship.
