Former head coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov, who headed the Hungarian Ferencvaros the day before, allowed his return to Spartak. He stated this on Tuesday, December 21, in an interview with “Championship”.
The specialist did not rule out returning to the capital’s club, but on one condition.
“Are you ready to return to Spartak if they call you? What role? If the head coach – absolutely, “- said Cherchesov.
The question was asked to the coach before his appointment to Ferencvaros, with whom he entered into an agreement until June 30, 2024, specifies the 360 TV channel.
On the same day, the press service of Ferencvaros published a video in which the new head coach of the club from Budapest is being vaccinated against COVID-19, reports RT.
Earlier, on December 20, Cherchesov became the head of the Hungarian “Ferencvaros”. At the moment, “Ferencvaros” is in first place in the standings of the Hungarian Championship: the team won 11 victories in 16 meetings and scored 35 points, says Sport-Express.
The details of the contract with the Russian specialist were not disclosed, according to the website kp.ru.
Former coach of the Russian national team Yuri Semin praised the appointment of Cherchesov as the head coach of the Hungarian club.
Ferencváros is a very serious club, they played very successfully in the Europa League, they played with CSKA, played in the Champions League, they are repeated champions of Hungary. This is a very good challenge for him, ”the NSN quotes him.
Stanislav Cherchesov was the coach of the Polish football club Legia from 2015 to 2016, and from 2016 to 2021 he was the head coach of the Russian national team.
On July 8, Cherchesov left the post of head coach of the Russian national football team. He wished the new coaches to solve the problem of reaching the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The next day, the RFU terminated contracts with coaches from the headquarters of Stanislav Cherchesov by mutual agreement.
Cherchesov’s departure from office began to be predicted after the loss of the Russian national team on June 21 to the Danish team with a score of 1: 4 – the team took the last place in Group B at Euro 2020 and was eliminated.
