The Black Wings complained on Monday that the Vorarlberger equalizer to 4: 4 only fell after the end of regular time. That was not the case. Because the only relevant video – the one that the referees were shown to assess the situation on an iPad and that is linked to the official match watch – absolved the Hungarian referees Daniel Rencz and Daniel Soos of all guilt. The puck crossed the line exactly 0.2 seconds before the siren.
“It is an irrefutable factual decision, the referees have done everything right, this issue is closed,” emphasized league managing director Christian Feichtinger.
The matter has also been settled for Black Wings manager Gregor Baumgartner, whose team made a guest appearance in Villach yesterday when this issue went to press. “We just wanted to clarify the situation and tackle the issue with the clock. We owed that to our players and our fans.” Only one question remains: How could the Black Wings Dornbirn striker Kevin Hancock, the shooter of the 4: 4, come to the conclusion so freely? “We dropped at least ten points in the final stages of games this year,” said Baumgartner angrily.
