Will Ralf Rangnick be the new coach of FC Bayern? Austria’s national coach admits that the Munich team made contact. However, there is currently no reason to “concretely deal with it”.
Austria’s national coach Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that FC Bayern Munich has contacted him. The 65-year-old is considered a hot candidate to succeed Thomas Tuchel this summer.
“Bayern Munich contacted us and I also informed the ÖFB about it. We have a very trusting relationship,” Rangnick told the internet portal “90minuten.at” in Vienna.
But his focus is on the Austrian national team. “We are completely concentrating on the European Championships. I feel very comfortable here. At the moment there is no reason to focus on it intensively and specifically.”
According to Rangnick’s account, the German soccer record champions have not yet shown any firm interest in him. “The moment Bayern would say: We want you. And then I have to ask myself: Do I even want that?” Rangnick answered when asked when he would have reason to get involved with FC Bayern. There were initially no official statements from FC Bayern regarding this personnel.
The former coach of RB Leipzig or 1899 Hoffenheim left it open whether he would fulfill his contract in Austria until 2026. “If I want to do something different, I will first discuss it with the ÖFB,” said Rangnick.
He’s not interested in money. “No, that doesn’t matter to me at all. For me it’s about other things: Can I make a difference? Can I make a difference? Is there a chance of developing a team and being successful? That’s what drives me,” he explained . “When that no longer motivates me, it’s time to retire.”
