Premier League: Liverpool’s Klopp angry: Second division team wouldn’t have played like that

In the Premier League title fight, slip-ups are not allowed – and Liverpool FC loses in the derby against Everton FC. Jürgen Klopp is pissed off afterwards and it becomes clear.

Jürgen Klopp clearly criticized the Liverpool FC players after the 2-0 defeat at Everton FC and the bitter setback in the fight for the English football championship.

“We have to look in the mirror and be very critical of ourselves. Our counter-pressing was terrible,” said the outgoing coach on English television at the end of the season and, referring to the name of the English second division, said: “I think a championship team would have didn’t play like we did.”

Jarrad Branthwaite (27th) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (58th) scored for the hosts at Goodison Park. In the Premier League, Liverpool are still three points behind Arsenal in second place. The frontrunner clearly won the derby against Chelsea FC 5-0 (1-0) on Tuesday and extended the lead over rivals Liverpool and Manchester City to three and four points respectively. Champion City have played two fewer games and play at Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday.

“We weren’t good enough today. We gave Everton the game they wanted,” said Klopp. When asked whether he still believed he would be in the championship race, he replied: “That doesn’t matter to me today. That’s not the point. We have to play better.”
