The FIFA world ranking is a classification system for the 211 men’s football teams belonging to FIFA, used since August 1993. This classification is based on the results of official matches between the different teams through the awarding of points.
The current system considers the results of the last four yearsgiving greater weight to the most recent results to better reflect the current competitiveness of the teams and other variables, such as the characteristics of the rival, the place where the match was held and the tournament in which it was played.
