Some Bayern fans would like Thomas Tuchel to stay as coach in Munich beyond the summer. Tuchel really doesn’t have the nerve for that at the moment. He only aims for maximum success.
Thomas Tuchel has not paid any attention to an online petition from Bayern fans who want him to stay in Munich in the heated final phase of the season.
This is an issue “that has and should not have any priority, even if in this case it is a pleasing issue for me,” said Tuchel on Friday. The next eleven days “can’t be about anything other than football.”
FC Bayern wants to consolidate its second place in the Bundesliga behind champions Bayer Leverkusen against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (3:30 p.m.). The Munich team will fight against Real Madrid next Tuesday at home and eight days later at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu for a place in the final of the Champions League.
“There is no capacity for anything else now,” said a determined Tuchel, who is leaving Bayern a year before the actual end of his contract this summer. “I don’t allow myself to be influenced by it either. I don’t want to hear it if it’s positive, I don’t want to know it if it’s negative.”
The online petition with the title “We want Juppel (Thomas Tuchel) and not Rangnick!” wants Tuchel to stay in Munich beyond the summer and had more than 12,000 signatures as of Friday afternoon. Ralf Rangnick, currently Austria’s national coach, is considered a hot candidate to replace Tuchel.
