Nico Schlotterbeck has been showing strong performances for weeks. This increases the BVB professional’s chance of returning to the national team. Club coach Edin Terzic advertises.
Coach Edin Terzic from Borussia Dortmund has campaigned for defender Nico Schlotterbeck to return to the German national football team.
“We talked about how he can play his way back into this circle – through good performances. I just think he showed that. At the very highest level and against the absolute top players in Europe, he did a great job. Nico did really well developed,” praised the 41-year-old coach, referring to Schlotterbeck’s strong performances in the Champions League. There, Borussia can hope to reach the final after beating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-final.
Schlotterbeck played his last of eleven international matches on September 9, 2023 in a 4-1 defeat against Japan. Since Julian Nagelsmann took office as DFB coach and successor to Hansi Flick at the end of September 2023, the central defender has been waiting in vain for a nomination.
Mats Hummels had made similar positive comments to Terzic about his Dortmund teammate Schlotterbeck the day before. “It’s crazy how clearly this boy still gets so little appreciation,” said the 2014 world champion on Instagram.
