Russian figure skater Mark Kondratyuk commented on the victory at the Russian Championship in St. Petersburg on Friday, December 24.
“I didn’t expect to win the championship. I’m shocked. I do not think that I am the leader of the national team. Today it is possible. Absolutely not. The leader of the national team sits to my right (Mikhail Kolyada. – Ed.). Honestly, I don’t know what to say about emotions. Come out charged? And what should I go out discharged? ” – he said in an interview with Sport-Express.
Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova also congratulated the skater on his victory.
“Mark is great! Congratulations. But I probably won’t congratulate Misha Kolyada on the second place, ”she told the Sport-Express newspaper.
Choreographer and producer Ilya Averbukh also reacted to Kondratyuk’s victory. In an interview with Sport-Express, he noted that the skater is a very talented and gifted athlete. According to the choreographer, the athlete’s first place did not come as a surprise to him. Averbukh also noted that “any of the boys could shoot, they are about the same level.”
According to the sum of performances, Kondratyuk scored 284.37 points. The second place was taken by Mikhail Kolyada – 283.70 points. Andrey Mozalev closed the top three – 278.28 points.
Evgeny Semenenko, who was in the lead after the short program, took fourth place with 274.28 points.
Earlier on Friday, figure skaters Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin became Russian champions in ice dancing.
