Union Berlin, a Bundesliga club threatened with relegation, has parted ways with coach Nenad Bjelica with immediate effect, the club announced. The 52-year-old only took over the Köpenick team from long-time successful coach Urs Fischer in November, but was unable to stop the negative trend in the long term.

His successor for the rest of the season will be U19 coach Marco Grote, who had previously acted as interim coach. The 51-year-old is supported by assistant coaches Marie-Louise Eta and Sebastian Bönig.
