FC Bayern Munich: Tuchel: No decision yet on the next coaching job

Thomas Tuchel doesn’t expect any farewell presents at the last home game as Bayern coach. No flowers without a title, he says. He only now wants to clarify his coaching future “in peace and quiet”.

Thomas Tuchel has not yet made a decision about his future as coach after his time at Bayern Munich ends in a week. This will happen “in peace and quiet over the next few weeks,” said the 50-year-old. His last home game as coach of the record champions, who have remained completely titleless for the first time since 2012, is on Sunday (5:30 p.m./DAZN) in the Bundesliga against VfL Wolfsburg.

Tuchel was still unable to say much about his emotional expectations of his last day of work as Bayern coach in the Allianz Arena, still under the impression of the painful Champions League drama in Madrid with the missed entry into the Wembley final against Borussia Dortmund.

Tuchel doesn’t expect a big farewell with presents before kick-off. “You don’t need to give flowers to terminate a contract early without a title,” he said. “Of course I’m not satisfied personally. I signed a contract with Bayern Munich to win titles. I gave it my best.”

After the very last game with Bayern in a week at TSG Hoffenheim, Tuchel wants to press ahead with his personal future planning. Where are you going? Leaving Germany again? Back to England, where he won the Champions League with Chelsea FC in 2021? “I have no idea. I’ll think about it calmly. It was planned differently here, but the matter has been clear since February,” said Tuchel and assured: “There have been no discussions with other clubs so far because the task here was all-encompassing . There is no tendency and no decision in any direction.”
