Kamila Valieva became the champion of Russia in women’s single skating

Kamila Valieva on December 25 became the champion of Russia in women’s single skating with a result higher than world records in the free program and in total.

For her free skating, the 15-year-old figure skater received 193.10 points. In total, she scored 283.48 points. Valieva broke her own world records in terms of points scored in a free program and in the sum of two programs. The world record will not be officially ratified, as the International Skating Union (ISU) does not take into account the results at national tournaments.

The second place was taken by Alexandra Trusova (248.65). The reigning world champion Anna Shcherbakova (239.56) became the bronze medalist.

Valieva spends her first season at the senior level. This season, the Russian woman won the stages of the Grand Prix series in Canada and Russia, as well as the Challenger series tournament in Finland.

Earlier on the same day, it became known that the reigning world champions in figure skating Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov won gold medals in the competition of sports pairs at the Russian championship.

For their free program, the couple received 160.00 points and scored a total of 243.74 points.

The Russian Figure Skating Championship was held in St. Petersburg from 23 to 25 December.
