The young Vincent Kompany is being discussed as a possible coach at FC Bayern Munich. For former international player Stefan Effenberg, this makes sense.
Former national soccer player Stefan Effenberg sees no risk in a possible appointment of the largely inexperienced Vincent Kompany as the new coach of FC Bayern Munich. For him, this would make sense, wrote the former Bayern professional in a column for the news portal “t-online”.
“He is only 38 years old, fresh, will certainly bring a good team with him, he played for Manchester City for years, has seen it all – and: he speaks the players’ languages, which I think is essential, especially at FC Bayern,” explained Effenberg.
After numerous rejections, Belgian Kompany has recently come into focus as a possible successor to Thomas Tuchel. The former HSV professional is still under contract with Burnley FC, with whom he was relegated from the Premier League. Effenberg does not see this as a flaw.
There is no guarantee that things will go well with a supposedly successful coach – we have seen that enough at FC Bayern in recent years, said the 55-year-old, drawing a comparison with Bayer Leverkusen’s championship-winning coach Xabi Alonso: “Alonso, Bayern’s original dream coach, also had no luck with Real Sociedad’s second team and was unable to prevent relegation before Leverkusen gave him the chance – and he took it.”
