The DFB Cup final is a huge football festival for the fans who travel with the team – and it starts long before kick-off. The supporters of outsiders Kaiserslautern in particular get the mood going early on.
Many thousands of football fans of Bayer Leverkusen and especially of 1. FC Kaiserslautern are getting in the mood for the DFB Cup final in Berlin. By midday, well over 10,000 supporters had gathered on Breitscheidplatz wearing FCK jerseys or red T-shirts specially made for the final.
At the same time, Hammarskjöldplatz in front of the exhibition halls at the radio tower, a meeting point for fans of the German football champions from Leverkusen, was only gradually filling up. Coach Xabi Alonso’s team is the clear favorite going into the final against the second division team at 8 p.m. (ARD and Sky) in the Olympic Stadium.
Both clubs have received 23,700 tickets for their fans, which have long since sold out. Around 30,000 Leverkusen fans are expected in the capital, and around 20,000 more fans are expected from Kaiserslautern and the surrounding area.
