National player Toni Kroos received an emotional farewell from fans and teammates in his last league home game with Real Madrid.
Before kick-off, the professionals of the Spanish football champions lined up for the 34-year-old, who will end his extremely successful career after the European Championships in the summer. The Real stars wore Kroos’ number eight jersey. The fans in the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu displayed a huge banner with the inscription: “Gracias Leyenda” – Thank you, legend.
The match against Betis Sevilla at the end of the season, which was of no sporting significance for Real, ended 0-0. In addition to Kroos, who was substituted and celebrated a few minutes before the end, DFB team-mate Antonio Rüdiger was also in the starting eleven.
