Julian Nagelsmann is still missing many players for the European Championship preparations. The national coach continues training in idyllic surroundings – with family members as spectators.
Julian Nagelsmann was only able to take part in the first training session of the national football team at the team headquarters in Blankenhain with a decimated squad. At the training session on Tuesday morning on the grounds of the Golf Hotel Weimarer Land, the national coach had 13 field players and two goalkeepers with him.
The injured Leroy Sané, Jamal Musiala, Aleksandar Pavlovic and David Raum were unable to join their colleagues on the pitch at the public training session in Jena, as they were the day before. Several players from the 27-man provisional squad will also only begin preparing for the European Championship at home in the coming days or next week.
Thomas Müller was able to train without any noticeable problems. The 34-year-old FC Bayern Munich professional suffered a blow to his left knee on Monday and had to be bandaged on the pitch.
Nagelsmann first asked the players to go to the fitness tent that had been set up on the grounds, then they went to the training ground in the middle of the fairways on the idyllic golf course within sight of the hotel. The session was also observed by the national coach’s partner and some family members of the players, who will be in Blankenhain until Wednesday.
The DFB team will be preparing for the European Championship in Thuringia until Friday. Then they will move to the tournament headquarters in Herzogenaurach. The last test matches against Ukraine in Nuremberg and Greece in Mönchengladbach will take place on June 3rd and 7th. The European Championship will begin on June 14th with the opening match against Scotland in Munich.
