The “Violets” won the return leg of the European Cup play-off final at TSV Hartberg on Tuesday with 1:0 (1:0). The first leg in Vienna had already ended 2:1 for the Favoritner. Austria thus achieved its minimum goal for the season and will start the second round of the Conference League qualification at the end of July.
James Holland, who had already scored in the first leg, had the Viennese celebrating before the break (39th minute). This goal was enough for the guests, who managed to secure the win despite being outnumbered, thus saving a mixed season. For interim coach Christian Wegleitner, it was the fourth win in four games. After the play-off, the Burgenlander will return to second place, and will work as an assistant under the new head coach.
