National team: Nagelsmann’s training group is filling up

Julian Nagelsmann welcomes three Munich players to training on the pitch. A fourth is cycling in the fitness tent. Preparations for the European Championship are slowly gaining momentum.

The recently injured Leroy Sané, Jamal Musiala and Aleksandar Pavlovic took part in the national football team’s training session this morning in Blankenhain.

The three Munich players were among the 16 field players who were available to Julian Nagelsmann for the training session on the grounds of the Weimarer Land Golf Hotel. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer initially started with exercises in the fitness tent next to the training pitch.

The Bayern goalkeeper arrived at the European Championship training camp in Thuringia on Tuesday two days late after suffering from a gastrointestinal infection. The goalkeeper training was initially carried out by Oliver Baumann from TSG Hoffenheim and Alexander Nübel from VfB Stuttgart. Neuer is set to make his DFB comeback after one and a half years in the European Championship test against Ukraine in Nuremberg on Monday. National coach Nagelsmann has earmarked him as number one for the home tournament.

The three double winners from Bayer Leverkusen, Florian Wirtz, Robert Andrich and Jonathan Tah, who were given the day off by Nagelsmann after winning the DFB Cup on Saturday, are also expected to arrive today. Captain Ilkay Gündogan, who ended the season in Spain with FC Barcelona on Sunday, is also expected to arrive.
