Borussia Dortmund is a clear underdog in the Champions League final against Real Madrid. Nevertheless, the Borussia team is strikingly confident.
Borussia Dortmund’s coach Edin Terzic is counting on his team to put in a bold performance in the Champions League final against Real Madrid. “You don’t play a final, you win a final. And that is our clear goal,” said Terzic at London’s Wembley Stadium. There, the Bundesliga’s fifth-place team will face the competition’s record winner with 14 titles on Saturday (9 p.m./ZDF and DAZN).
“If we are brave and have not just come to watch Real raise the next trophy, if we are their opponents, then we have a good chance,” the 41-year-old continued. “The best parties in my life were the ones that were not planned. So let’s go with it,” Terzic continued, who senses “a lot of anticipation, a lot of excitement” among his team.
National players Nico Schlotterbeck and Julian Brandt also emphasized the great chance that Dortmund had despite their underdog status. “We can beat any opponent in the world,” said Schlotterbeck, referring to the experience from the semi-finals in which Dortmund prevailed against Paris St. Germain.
“We’ll take that with us. That’s why we’re going into the game with joy. Then we’ll have a chance to win the game,” Schlotterbeck continued. “If we didn’t believe in it, we could have stayed in Dortmund,” said Brandt.
