What happened to Tyson? They postponed their fight with Paul due to a health problem

Tyson, 57, needed medical treatment aboard a flight Miami to The Angels last Sunday after complaining of nausea and dizziness, in an incident that occurred just under two months after his fight with Paul on July 20 in Arlington, Texas.

The organizers of the fight said in a statement that Tyson had been advised to do only minimal training in the coming weeks following a medical check on Thursday, revealing that the former boxer had been struggling with an “ulcer outbreak.”.

“The recommendation is that Mike Tyson perform minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training without limitations,” said the event organization.

“Both Mike and Jake agree that it is fair to ensure that both athletes have equal training time to prepare for this important fight and can compete at the highest level”.

“The health and well-being of the athletes is our top priority, and we fully support Mike in taking the necessary time to allow him to perform at the level he expects of himself,” the organization closed.

A new date for the fight, which will be broadcast live on Netflix, will be announced before June 7, organizers noted.

Tyson, who on Tuesday said he felt “100%” despite Sunday’s health drama, insisted that he would be in optimal condition when his confrontation with Paul finally takes place. “I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time,” Tyson said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, due to an ulcer flare-up, my doctor has advised me to reduce my training for a few weeks to rest and recover. My body is overall in better shape than it has been since the 90s and I will soon be returning to my full training program.” , he added.

“Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing forever,” he warned.

Paul, for his part, said he supported postponing the fight. “I fully support postponing the event so that Mike Tyson has no excuses on fight night,” Paul said.

Tyson, who will turn 58 in June, was scheduled to face Paul, 27, in an eight-round, two-minute professional bout, which has been sanctioned by Texas boxing authorities.
