After moving from Thuringia to Franconia, the national football team trained for the first time in its tournament quarters 13 days before the European Championship opening match against Scotland.
In rainy conditions, a tactical unit was on the training program under the direction of national coach Julian Nagelsmann on the newly constructed training pitch on the premises of DFB equipment supplier Adidas.
Leipzig’s David Raum, who was still a little injured, was missing from the pitch and trained in the fitness tent. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer continued to prepare for his planned international comeback on Monday against Ukraine in a protective rain jacket.
“I’m in a positive mood. I’m looking forward to the first training sessions and what’s to come,” said Bayern professional Neuer on Friday evening at the fan reception in Herzogenaurach after arriving from the training camp in Blankenhain.
In addition to the four Champions League finalists from Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen from FC Barcelona is also still missing. He is only expected to join the DFB team as a latecomer for the penultimate test match on Monday in Nuremberg.
