The Champions League final against Real Madrid is Marco Reus’ last game as a Borussia Dortmund professional. But he’s still not enough to make the starting eleven.
Marco Reus will initially only be on the bench in his last game for Borussia Dortmund. Before the Champions League final against Real Madrid at London’s Wembley Stadium, BVB coach Edin Terzic decided on the expected line-up with the five attacking players Jadon Sancho, Niclas Füllkrug, Karim Adeyemi, Julian Brandt and Marcel Sabitzer on Saturday evening.
Reus turned 35 on Friday and will leave his hometown club after this season. The former international is one of the few players in world football to have a positive record against the Champions League record winners from Madrid: Reus won three of seven games against Real and lost only two.
The Spanish champions surprisingly have French international Aurélien Tchouameni in their squad. The 24-year-old midfielder was injured in the semi-final against Bayern Munich. Even his participation in the European Championship in Germany was in doubt at times. After a final stress test on Friday evening during the final training session, Tchouameni made it to the bench at least for this final.
