Spain’s tennis star Carlos Alcaraz is the first major tournament favorite to make it into the quarterfinals of the French Open. The 21-year-old won his round of 16 match against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime 6:3, 6:3, 6:1.
In the round of the best eight, the world number three will face Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek defeated the Italian Matteo Arnaldi 3:6, 7:6 (7:4), 6:2, 6:2 after initial difficulties.
Alcaraz is one of the four major title contenders alongside German tennis pro Alexander Zverev, Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic and Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner from Italy. Sinner will play against Frenchman Corentin Moutet on Sunday evening for a quarter-final ticket. Zverev and Djokovic will be back in action on Monday.
