The Brooklyn Nets are already Dennis Schröder’s seventh NBA stop. But the German basketball star seems to feel particularly at home in New York.
Basketball world champion Dennis Schröder would like to continue playing for his New York NBA club Brooklyn Nets. “Brooklyn is a very cool, good organization, very family-oriented. I would definitely like to stay there long-term,” said the 30-year-old in an interview with the “Braunschweiger Zeitung”.
Schröder only came to New York in February of this year, after previously playing in the North American professional league for the Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Atlanta Hawks.
“You never know in the NBA,” said the captain of the German national team. “My agent and I believe that the Nets liked the way I played. I changed the culture a bit, brought in a bit more defense and teamwork and also showed leadership. But if Giannis Antetokounmpo or another superstar said he wanted to play in Brooklyn, the Nets would say: We’ll trade everyone away so we can get him. That’s why you never know what will happen in the NBA.”
Schröder’s contract is valid for another season. However, trades between teams are common in the NBA, and in this case Schröder would continue to be paid by another organization.
