Tennis player Andrei Rublev explained his victory at the Tokyo Olympics

Tennis players Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Andrei Rublev did not spare themselves during the 2020 Olympic Games, Rublev himself told Izvestia about this. He and Pavlyuchenkova won gold in the mixed doubles at the Tokyo Olympics, which took place in the summer of 2021, having been postponed for a year due to the pandemic.

“There are many where it happened. We did not feel sorry for ourselves, fought for every ball, no matter who we played against. When we played against experienced greenhouses, they had a little more pressure, because they are kind of experienced, they have to play doubles, they trained mixed. And we must calmly beat us, since Nastya and I are not paired players, we have never played together. Perhaps no one expected anything from us, thought that getting on us was a profitable option. Besides, both Nastya and I play very aggressively, we have a speed advantage. All this worked out in our favor, “Rublev told Izvestia.

30-year-old Pavlyuchenkova and 24-year-old Rublev in the final of the Olympics beat another Russian pair Elena Vesnina / Aslan Karatsev (6: 3; 6: 7; 11:13). In November, they became the winners of the most prestigious tennis team tournaments for the Russian national teams. Pavlyuchenkova with the women’s team won the Billie Jean King Cup, Rublev with the men’s team won the Davis Cup.
