Sergio Vazquezformer defender of the argentine national team and champion of the Copa America 1991 and 1993surrendered to the level of Cristian “Cuti” Romero and assured that “He is the best number 2 in the history of Argentine football”.

“At his age, he is a kid who gives you confidence when the ball comes to him”he added.
Furthermore, he confessed his desire to see Romero “in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City because of the style he has”.
On the other hand, he was excited about the central defense of the Selection: “We found a central duo 10 years from now. Both (Lisandro) Martínez and ‘Cuti’ have oriented controls that allow them to reduce the time when giving a pass.”
Despite the potential of Rosemary and Martinez as a central duo in the defense of the Selection, Vazquez stressed that “Today the owner is (Nicolás) Otamendi”about whom he said: “He is going through the best moment of his career. Not even he would have thought of reaching this age with the level he is at. Two years ago he came with a spectacular level.”
Finally, he referred to the moment of the Argentine national team: “I like to enjoy it and I have been doing it for a long time with this team. They play the football that we all like, with possession and tranquility.”
Vázquez, who worked as a professional between 1983 and 1997, played for Ferrocarril Oeste, Rosario Central, Racing and Banfield in Argentina. He also went through the Catholic University of Chile and the Waspa Fukuoka in Japan, where he retired. In the Argentine National Team he played 30 games and won the title in two Copa América (1991 and 1993), the King Fahd Cup (1992) and the Artemio Franchi (1993).
