Julian Nagelsmann continues training for the European Championship opener in the DFB team’s camp. A young Munich hopeful is still absent.
National coach Julian Nagelsmann will have to continue to do without Aleksandar Pavlovic in preparation for the opening match of the European Championship against Scotland. The 20-year-old midfielder was also absent from the national football team’s training session in Herzogenaurach due to an infection. This means that his participation in the opening match is probably ruled out. Sky also reported on Tuesday that Pavlovic will miss the match against Scotland.
The Bayern professional had already had to forego a possible DFB debut in March due to tonsillitis. At the national team’s media day, Pavlovic reported that he was considering having a tonsillectomy after the European Championships because of the frequent infections.
All other 22 field players and three goalkeepers were present at the training session on the home ground on Tuesday. After a warm-up program in the fitness tent, Toni Kroos and his colleagues first completed passing combinations. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer practiced with his colleagues Marc-André ter Stegen and Oliver Baumann on a side pitch.
Before the opening game on Friday (9 p.m./ZDF/Magenta TV), two more training sessions are planned on the pitch in Franconia. On Thursday, after the final training session, the team will travel to Munich.
