Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola speaks in star-Interview about İlkay Gündoğan’s quiet leadership style – and about his qualities as a neighbor from whom he once borrowed olive oil.
Mr Guardiola, İlkay Gundogan and you lived in the same house in Manchester, even on the same floor, in the attic. What kind of neighbor was Gündogan?
If I needed olive oil for my salad, I could go over to İlkay and get some. He was very reserved, no noise, no parties. The perfect neighbor. After we won the Champions League, I went over to his place with my family and we drank a bottle of champagne together.
Have you ever visited each other? To watch football, for example?
No never.
