Julian Nagelsmann speaks of a “normal process”. But of course everything has to be right before the opening match of the European Championship against Scotland. The schedule for the DFB team has been fixed in the Munich team hotel.
In the final hours before the European Championship kick-off against Scotland, Julian Nagelsmann wants to lay the foundation for a perfect start to the tournament with routine procedures. “We are not doing any more actions. The day is completely normal,” said the national coach before the national football team’s match this evening (9 p.m./ZDF/Magenta TV).
The schedule for captain Ilkay Gündogan, Toni Kroos and their teammates at the hotel in Munich-Unterschleissheim is fixed. “We are playing a very important game, that is action and event enough. There is no need for anything in advance,” said the national coach.
Until 10:00 a.m.:
Breakfast. Even late risers must have had their morning coffee by now.
In the morning:
Activation and standard discussion. The body should be prepared with light exercises. Nagelsmann also attaches great importance to “fine-tuning” the plans for dead balls.
From 1 p.m.:
Lunch at the hotel.
Late afternoon:
The so-called pre-match meal, the last meal before the game, provides important energy.
7 p.m.:
The team meeting. Nagelsmann swears his players to the task of facing Scotland. Then they take the bus to the stadium. The national coach is given an energy drink selected by his assistant Benjamin Glück. The ritual has proven itself many times.
9:00 p.m.:
The European Championship kicks off. Now it counts for the national team against Scotland.
