Thomas Müller made a special appearance on the pitch at Munich’s European Championship stadium before kick-off. He delighted the fans with a few tricks on the ball and with his mobile phone in his hand.
Thomas Müller was the first to arrive and the last to leave – with a cell phone to his ear and a show act. During the national football players’ inspection of the pitch before the European Championship opening match against Scotland on Friday evening (9 p.m./ZDF/MagentaTV), the Bayern professional delighted the fans already present in the Munich stadium with a few juggling tricks on the ball.
What was strange was that the 34-year-old was talking on his mobile phone at the same time. Who was he exchanging his last thoughts with before the European Championship kick-off?
Müller is playing in his fourth European Championship since 2012 at the home tournament. He has not yet scored a goal at the continental tournament, but he scored a total of ten goals for Germany at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups. National coach Julian Nagelsmann does not plan on using Müller as a regular player. He recently described him as a “connector” and “lubricant” for the good atmosphere in the squad.
