Good start for the German tennis pros in Halle. Dominik Koepfer manages a small surprise at the start.
Dominik Koepfer is the first German tennis professional to reach the round of 16 at the grass court tournament in Halle, Westphalia. The 30-year-old won the Terra Wortmann Open against the eighth-seeded Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime with a clear 6:4, 6:3. Koepfer only needed 70 minutes for his victory.
In his first round match on Tuesday or Wednesday, Alexander Zverev will face fellow countryman Oscar Otte, who fought his way into the main draw via qualifying. For Zverev, it is his first appearance since his defeat in the final of the French Open against Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. The Olympic champion canceled his start at the grass tournament in Stuttgart last week in order to recover.
