Jannik Sinner travels to Wimbledon with a lot of confidence. In Halle, the Italian will live up to his role as favorite against Zverev’s conqueror.
World number one Jannik Sinner has won the tennis tournament in Halle, Westphalia. The Italian won the final of the Terra Wortmann Open against the Pole Hubert Hurkacz 7:6 (10:8), 7:6 (7:2). Sinner (22) converted his first match point after 1:49 hours.
It was the Australian Open champion’s fourth title this year. Sinner is therefore the favorite going into the grass court classic in Wimbledon. The third Grand Slam tournament of the season begins on July 1st.
Alexander Zverev narrowly missed out on reaching the final in Halle. The Olympic champion lost his semi-final against Hurkacz 6:7 (2:7), 4:6. Zverev will now have to wait a little longer for his first Halle title. He lost in the final in 2016 and 2017.
