Jesús Navas is still in the Spanish national team from the dominant team that won the World and European Championships in 2010 and 2012. He sees the current team on a similar path to that of then.
World and European champion Jesús Navas sees the same spirit in the current Spanish national team as in the great title-winning teams of the Spaniards a good ten years ago. The now 38-year-old winger from FC Sevilla is hoping to make his first appearance at this European Championship today (9 p.m./RTL and MagentaTV) in Spain’s last group match against Albania.
The veteran is the only remaining Spanish international from the successful 2010 World Cup team and 2012 European Championship team. “I see the fun in this team. And it is similar to that of back then,” said Navas before Spain’s last group match.
With two wins and a 4-0 goal difference, Spain has already secured the group stage winners of Group B. For many experts, the team is the top favorite to win the title this year. “It’s some of the best football we play,” said Navas. “But we have to stay humble, the tournament is still long.”
